Movie in the Park

Spend a summer evening under the stars with family and friends at the City of University Place’s annual Movie in the Park at Cirque Park on Saturday, Aug. 1. The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. with an exciting lineup of family-friendly entertainment before a special showing of the beloved summertime classic, "The Sandlot," at dusk.
As the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, The Sandlot is a perfect choice for the occasion. Few things capture the American spirit quite like a summer evening, a close-knit group of friends, and a timeless game of baseball. This heartwarming film celebrates friendship, community, and the simple joys that bring people together.
Before the movie, guests can enjoy live music from the Brian James and Chapter 5 bands, along with stilt walkers, acrobats, performing characters, interactive games, and activities for children. Families can also visit the Kids Market, featuring handmade goods created and sold by young entrepreneurs.
Food trucks will be on-site serving up summer favorites, including Stack Burgers, Matt Perini Hot Dogs, Flavorworks, and Bliss Small Batch Creamery, with additional vendors being added throughout the summer. Adults can also relax and enjoy the event’s beer garden from 4:30-9 p.m.
As a special tribute to America’s 250th anniversary, attendees will have the opportunity to see a rare USA Flag hot air balloon, originally built for the 1976 Bicentennial. Presented by Seattle Ballooning, it is one of only three such balloons in the nation.
This free community event is a wonderful way to wrap up a summer of celebrations and enjoy an evening of entertainment, food, and fun with neighbors and friends.
Please note: Seating is on the lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for viewing. As a courtesy to others, those using taller lawn chairs are asked to set up toward the back of the viewing area to ensure everyone has a clear view of the movie.
Alternate/backup parking will be available at Drum Intermediate School, 4909 79th Ave W.
Many thanks to America’s Credit Union for their financial support of this truly special family event.
We look forward to seeing you at Cirque Park for this memorable community tradition!
