Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Watertown is well-known for the many species of migrating birds that visit this attractive habitat found in a densely populated urban area. Warblers are the main attraction along with migrating thrushes and orioles. Join us for a morning of colorful spring foliage, warbler watching, and other birding discoveries!
Why Warblers?
The arrival of warblers in spring migration is one of the most anticipated moments of the year for birdwatchers. After a long winter of subdued colors and quiet woods, these tiny songbirds suddenly appear in dazzling flashes of yellow, blue, and green, often moving quickly through the treetops. Warblers are especially fascinating because of their incredible journeys—many travel thousands of miles from Central and South America—and their diversity, with dozens of species passing through in a short window of time. Their energetic behavior, varied songs, and often challenging identification make them both exciting and rewarding to observe, turning each spring outing into a kind of treasure hunt.

Location: Arrive at the entrance to the Mt Auburn Cemetery located at 580 Mt Auburn St., Cambridge.

Parking: There is limited parking at Mt Auburn Cemetery. You can drive through the Cemetery and may park on any roads without a green line. More info.

What to bring: binoculars, camera, warm clothes (if necessary), water bottle.
