Join Golden Eagle Audubon for our annual Mother's Day Birding Celebration at the Discovery Unit of Lucky Peak State Park, nestled alongside the Boise River with spectacular views of the Black Cliffs basalt canyon. This family-friendly trip is a great way to get beginners hooked on some of the most beautiful birds in southern Idaho!
We will divide into groups to stroll through this scenic area with local guides who will help you spot colorful birds, learn bird-identification tips, and listen to the sounds of nature along the river's edge. Species we expect to see include local and migratory birds like Bald and Golden Eagles, Bullock's Orioles, Western Kingbirds, warblers, finches, wrens, and swallows. This relaxed, family-friendly event is a wonderful way to spend time outdoors with mom while discovering the birds of Lucky Peak.
The check-in table will be located next to the parking lot. Please check in with the event host, and pick up a free packet of native Lupine seeds while supplies last! Donuts will be available for the first 50 attendees - first come, first served. Families who make a $10 donation with their registration will receive 2 raffle tickets for a Mother's Day surprise. Bonus raffle tickets are available for each additional $5 donation. Drawing will be held at 11:00am - you must be present to win. Feel free to pack a picnic and stick around after the event to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and spend some extra time together in the park.
This is an accessible and inclusive bird outing. All are welcome! Please use the special needs question in the registration form to let us know more about you. You are welcome to join us for all or part of the outing.
