On March 6, 2020, she was still performing as a student in a Breathing Ensemble on our stage. Now – one pandemic and five years later – 𝗔𝗻𝗸𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗹𝘆𝗽𝗲 returns to Walter. This time with her own trio, alongside Loni Cornelis and Artan Buleshkaj. Verslype proves what the jazz department of the Conservatory of Antwerp promises: freshly graduated musicians building their own projects and bringing a new audience along.
Afterwards comes 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲, the trio of Mola Sylla, Oscar Jan Hoogland, and Frank Rosaly. Three musical explorers, each with their own compass: Sylla, griot from Dakar, weaving stories with rhythm and voice; Hoogland, Amsterdam keyboard prodigy and inventor of an electric clavichord; and Rosaly, a drummer who moved from Chicago to Amsterdam and since seems to be everywhere at once in the jazz and improvised music scene. Together: a new mother tongue you didn’t even know you spoke.
