Moss Art Workshop

Let's get mossy and dig into the magical world of Moss Art! In this workshop, you'll work with different types of moss beautifully dyed in a variety of colours to create your very own moss art. This tactile workshop is open to any and all skills sets and recommended for ages 12+.

Moss Art is a type of mindful art practice that works with real preserved dead moss. If kept out of direct sunlight and hung somewhere with some humidity, an art piece can last years. Because the moss is dead, it does not require watering or soil.

The workshop will be seated. Wear short sleeves or sleeves that can be rolled up.

Cre:8 is a fully accessible workshop venue. Please note, as a pop-up venue we have no access to running water. Drinking water is available on site. Washrooms are located across the street, generously provided by Tim Hortons.

About your facilitator: Kayla was born and raised in Ottawa, and was a funeral director in a past life. She is a twin, cat whisperer, and considers herself an open book. Kayla is an event planner, community builder, and was one half of the Feminist Twins. She likes to dabble in lots of different arts and crafts including (but not limited to) moss art, poetry, embroidery, photography, felting, mixed media, and digital drawing. Inspired by strange and wonderful things, Kayla is fueled by the sheer need to always be creating. This past year, she had her first ever solo show, curated two arts shows, released two colouring books, and expanded her workshop offerings. Kayla resides with her partner Jason and two cats, Sally and Luna.
