About this Event

This is an in-person only event, which takes place at Charis Books and More. This space is free but we recommend you RSVP to reserve your spot because space is limited. Please read the in-person event guidelines at the bottom of this page to be sure you can participate in the event.

Charis Books and More & Sapphic Creative Writing Group are excited to bring our community a monthly space for sapphic, trans, and non-binary people to write and socialize.This space will include writing prompts and time to share your work and receive feedback from fellow participants. No prior writing experience is necessary – all skill levels are welcome. Our aim is to create a safe space for sapphic, trans, and non-binary people to foster creativity, encourage self-expression, and a sense of community. The Sapphic Writing Group will meet at Charis on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Join us on Wednesday, September10th at 6:00pm EST!

September's meeting will be hosted by Amaris. Amaris (they/them) is a queer, non-binary writer, content creator, and advocate based in Atlanta, GA. Their work has appeared in Teen Vogue, Refinery29, HuffPost, Autostraddle, Business Insider, and more. Amaris is passionate about storytelling that uplifts marginalized voices and is eager to bring the Sapphic Creative Writing group to the Atlanta community.

Event Details

  • All attendees must wear a face mask during the event.
  • We will begin seating people at 5:30 PM.
  • RSVP to reserve your spot because space is limited!
  • As a reminder: If you are not feeling well, please do not come to the event.

Accessibility

Charis has both stairs and an elongated ramp at the entrance. Accessible parking is to the left of the building. Charis Books is a fully wheelchair accessible space with on site van accessible parking, two ramps, and additional overflow accessible parking nearby. Most of our shelves are on wheels and can be moved to provide additional access. The insides are all level and flat with ramps to access various areas of the space. Our bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral with motion activated fixtures. Both bathrooms have wheelchair accessible baby changing tables. Our directional signs are written in braille. Please contact us [email protected] if you would like ASL interpretation at this event.

The event is free and open to all people, but we encourage and appreciate a donation of $5-20 in support of the work of Charis Circle, our programming non-profit.
