Monster Wave
As their name suggests, MONSTER WAVE plays exactly that: an eerie instrumental surf-rock sound that could be the soundtrack for a haunted tiki bar. They have go-go grooves, melodic guitars and a rhythmic beat that will get you twistin' and stompin' into the night! According to Ox-Fanzine, its "as if Dick Dale were setting a few episodes of The Munsters to music". So grab your favorite ghoul and get ready to dance, because remember: sitting still is forbidden!
The Big Sky
The Big Sky is Asheville’s newest instrumental guitar band. Fusing "spaghetti western" vibes with psychedelic surf tunes and Chicago-style post-rock bands like Tortoise and Brokeback, the rock quartet wants every song to sound different than the last. While there is little improvisation, the songs themselves capture the energy and freedom of a live jam, wherein double guitar parts and heavy drums could be mistaken for peak Allman Brothers or Hendrix-style sonic exploration.
