Monster Jam: Meditation and Sculpture

Welcome to Monster Jam.
Hosted By Salford Grit Studios, Monster Jam is safe space to create for both beginners and experts alike. Aimed as an activity to promote good mental health, led by Artist Richard Metcalfe, participants are invited to create their most weird and wacky sculptures.
Using Chavant clay provided, participants can directly shape onto one of the available head armatures. Don’t worry, you cannot make a mistake, chavant clay can be reheated and reshaped as often as you wish, so have fun and experiment!

This isn’t about making something subjectively good or bad, but simply the enjoying the act of creating. We understand trying something new can invoke feelings of anxiety or self-judgement, so to start the workshop we begin with a ten-minute mediation to shake out any tension and allow the neurons to fire.

Participants can bring their own materials, though in doing so you accept all responsibility for their condition and safety.

Due to the limited number of five head armatures, we can accept a maximum of 10 people per session, with two people sharing a head armature.

Sculptures are not retained between workshop sessions unless a block workshop booking has been bought to work on a larger-scale project.
Should a participant wish to take their completed sculpture, a fee to reimburse the cost of materials will be charged.
