About this Event
Monoprint Mondays
Mondays,1 PM - 3 PM
Six weeks:
- January 6th, 20th
- February 10th, 24th
- March 10th, 24th
Enjoy experimenting with textures, colors, and design by exercising your drawing and painting skills to make mono-prints with different techniques. We will create layers by adding and subtracting ink, tracing, image transfer, stencils, collagraph, linocut, and open work time. Learn various registration methods to align your layers perfectly, and strategize your printing process to get the most out of every session. Follow the provided example or develop your ideas with the technique explored that day to make meaningful art. Open work time for your projects to emerge will allow for one-on-one assistance in a group setting. Stay creative with your fellow printmakers, and have fun in a community-minded, socially-conscious environment.
Students provide:
- Sketchbook for ideas
- Favorite mark-making supplies
- Photographs or magazines
- Exacto blades & self-healing mat
About the Instructor:
Ingrid Marie Harbour is an interdisciplinary artist who enjoys experimenting with different mediums, including drawing, painting, and printmaking. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Ingrid moved East after studying art at the UW, including drawing with notable professors Zhi Lin and Emily Gherard. While living in NYC, Ingrid worked as a teaching artist at the Art Lab at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, teaching painting to teens and adults, where she participated in the Summer Studio Scholarship Program (SSSP) annually for several summers. The SSSP included a 6-week intensive of figure drawing and oil painting, including plein air on the grounds of historical Snug Harbor in Staten Island. Now based in New Jersey, Ingrid balances life as an artist, producer, and homemaker. She is currently participating in Somerset County’s Open Air / Open Space project as a plein air landscape artist, capturing the natural beauty of local parks.
