"To understand why I distanced myself from my origins," says Monika Killeen of why she writes.
"As an immigrant, who no longer speaks my parent’s language well enough, and as a class defector, I no longer have the same language — I think and speak using different words. This is an estrangement that is common yet not fully understood.
