Join us for a free class: Monarchs & Meadows! On March 7 at 10 am, join the Master Gardeners of Morgan County and Valerie Chaney at the Cacapon State Park Nature Center to learn more about West Virginia's state butterfly, including its fascinating lifecycle and harrowing migration. This location is designated as an official Monarch Waystation by Monarch Watch.Valerie Chaney is currently the chief naturalist for the West Virginia State Parks system and works out of Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs, WV. As a park naturalist, she covers a wide range of environmental topics, but Monarch Butterfly conservation has taken the lead. With the help of the Master Gardeners of Morgan County and other volunteer groups, the original mowed lawn surrounding the Nature Center has transformed over the years into a beautiful oasis of native plants for all pollinators.
