ABOUT MOMENTUM

Momentum is the new chamber music series at Kühlhaus Berlin, initiated and curated by students of the Barenboim-Said Akademie.

Forget the concert experience you know. We breathe new life into tradition, creating a dynamic laboratory for storytelling and meaningful human connections.

Each concert sparks a vibrant sense of community, featuring a faculty member or guest artist, giving students and alumni the chance to learn from incredible mentors, both in rehearsals and on stage.

In the most personal and contrasting of the Momentum concerts, our musicians share their spirits with the legendary pianist Elena Bashkirova - a soloist, chamber musician, and artistic visionary whose playing embodies 'Momentum'!

Info: The much awaited 'Momentum' of Persian music and spontaneous creation, where our musicians join the great kamancheh virtuoso Misagh Joolaee in a journey of improvisation and new original works. Expect the unexpected along the way: silent films, paintings from UdK students, and creative musical encounters will shape this unique celebration of Farsi culture.

Info: 'Music is one of the best ways to learn about human nature,' wrote Edward W. Said in Parallels and Paradoxes, a book he co-authored with Daniel Barenboim. The friendship and collaboration of these great thinkers and artists is what brings us together. The world-acclaimed violin soloist Michael Barenboim joins his students in a program profoundly curated around political 'Momentum' in music. We gather to honor Edward Said's enduring legacy and engage with his ever-relevant concepts.
This concert is in benefit of Al-Jawad Camp, supporting its mission to provide education for displaced children in Gaza.
