On Sunday, September 28th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater’s “Modern Marvels” series of post-2000 film screenings returns with Paul Thomas Anderson’s epic of American westward oil expansion, THERE WILL BE BLOOD (2007), on 35mm.
In a dark, sweeping, dramatically powerful tale of ruthless business practices and burning ambition, Daniel Day-Lees stars (doing his best John Huston impression) as an oil man who’s willing to sacrifice everything in his life to achieve the American Dream at any cost.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson brings to mind studio epics of the 1960s and 1970s with this beautifully shot and meticulously crafted film that, once seen, lingers long in memory.
