MONTHLY THEMES
Jan 10 Floofy Friends
Working alongside classroom instructors, students will design their own pocket-sized monsters. Crafted from colorful, fluffy fabrics, these small creatures will showcase a wide range of personalities, drawing inspiration from the styles of Furbies, Labubus, and visual artist Nick Cave.
Feb 14 Mini-Mes
Nesting inside a layer of clay is another opportunity to sculpt something imaginative. In this air-dry clay workshop, students will craft Russian nesting dolls with guidance from classroom instructors. Each part of their sculpture will draw inspiration from a different imaginary being found across various forms of media.
Mar 14 Gravitational Painting
In this follow-along activity, students will paint an original artwork, turned upside down, without knowing what the final result will be. Afterwards, they will explore a variety of experimental painting techniques to create unique effects and produce a visually stunning finished piece.
Apr 11 Krazy Kitchen
In this visually appetizing air-dry clay sculpting workshop, artistry and cooking come together in a playful blend. Students will put their imagination and crafting skills to the test as they sculpt wacky, meal-inspired creations in a fun, kitchen themed art activity.
About MOCA
Located in the heart of historic Downtown, the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville is one of the city’s most significant cultural assets. As the oldest art museum in Northeast Florida and one of the first contemporary art museums to be established in the United States, MOCA is focused on promoting the discovery, knowledge, and advancement of the art, artists, and ideas of our time.
