Sonia Hensler invites you into a decadent, tactile painting workshop where gold leaf, texture and intuition take centre stage. Participants begin by building rich, layered backgrounds with paint, pens, markers and crayons — embracing accidents, bold marks and indulgent colour. Once the surface feels alive, each person introduces a figure, creature or object using adhesive and shimmering gold leaf. Rather than filling the form, the gold frames it, allowing the subject to glow out of the painting — precious, strange and theatrical.
This workshop is about exploration, not perfection. Sonia shares her own methods for working with gold, texture and composition, while leaving plenty of room for play and surprise. No experience is needed — curiosity is enough. All materials are provided, and everyone leaves with a striking, tactile artwork celebrating contrast, excess and the joy of making something unapologetically their own.
Sonia is an artist and illustrator with over eighteen years’ experience working across fashion, editorial and luxury brands. Her work blends elegance with imagination, often slipping into the playful, the surreal and the unexpected. She brings a generous, encouraging approach to her workshops, sharing professional insight in a way that’s grounded, relaxed and accessible.
