Radical Women Meeting
Misogyny and the far right — yesterday and today
Right-wing populism is on the rise, including in Australia where One Nation is capitalising on the tough times. Women have a huge stake in defeating a resurgent far right. In 1930s Europe, fascism glorified motherhood as the primary role for Aryan women. In the 1990s, neo-Nazi Blackshirts organised in Melbourne to build their toxic movement by appealing to angry men. Today, extreme patriarchy and white supremacy are both central to One Nation’s plan.
In the lead-up to the Victorian state election, join Radical Women to explore why fascism hates independent women, draw lessons from history and discuss what it will take to defeat both right-wing populism and the outright fascists flocking to this movement.
Participate in person or take part via Zoom.
A delicious dinner will be served at 6.30 PM for a $10 donation. The session starts at 7.00 pm. All genders welcome!
