A co-presentation of Agnes Etherington Art Centre and Union Gallery
To inaugurate his 2026 Stonecroft residency, Maurício Chades presents a composting party-workshop that unearths MINHOCUÇU in Kingston:
MINHOCUÇU: the gigantic worm from Brazil that eats human waste and shits soil
They come from BELOW, from South America, to Canada to swallow HUMAN CAST-OFFS.
WHERE YOU SEE surplus, excess, waste, MINHOCUÇU sees metabolism.
Decomposition.
So give MINHOCUÇU your hair.
Give them your cardboard.
Give them your banana peels.
They will eat it.
They will shit soil.
How much does North America's comfortable modern life cost the rest of the continent?
Whose natural resources?
Whose self-determination?
Whose bodies?
How does racial-petro-capitalism prevent us from living symbiotically?
Can MINHOCUÇU slow down the globe’s spinning?
