Hugely successful and popular throughout the last few years, Minecroft returns to the Croft. New participants and returning Minecrofters are all very welcome!
You can expect time for games, making nature play objects, and croft explorations!
Details:
• We'll be outside for the entirety of the session, so make sure your wee ones are dressed for the weather. Also keep in mind that for this session the sun will be setting at 4pm.
• Ages: 9-12years
• There will be a maximum of 12 participants.
• The event will take place at Leith Community Croft from 13:30pm-15:30pm.
• We will be getting in touch via email prior to the event and ask you to fill out a consent form for each participating child.
• Children can be dropped off just before 13:30pm and picked up at 15:30pm sharp. Our cafe will have extended opening on these evenings until 4pm.
Parking
There is no parking on site, with limited on street parking nearby.
The Croft is near the Shore tramstopm and a 5 min walk from the foot of the walk.
Arrival
Please arrive 5 minutes before the session start time.
Once you arrive, we will get your child's name checked off the attendee list, your hands stamped (and time to complete the consent form if you’ve not already done so).
Collection:
Parents are not required to stay for the duration of the session but are welcome to enjoy homemade coffee/cakes from our cafe which will be open until 3pm Fridays, and 10-4pm Sundays.
If you leave for the duration of the session, please be sure to return promptly at the end of the session to pick up your child.
Please make sure that your child has:
-dressed in weather-appropriate clothing. This includes layers for cold weather, waterproofs if it rains, and sun protection if it’s hot. Also appropriate footwear is a must as they will be outdoors and exploring across gravely/woodchip/grassy areas.
-general fire safety awareness required as we will have a firepit in use during the session.
-Tool use safety awareness - we pay use some hand tools during the session. This will be supervised.
-a water bottle or something to drink out of, and any required snacks. Additionally, there will be food items such marshmallows/damper bread provided at the end of the session.
-You are requested to let us know if your child has any allergies/dietary requirements when signing up.
Please remember that the Croft site is on Common Good Land and therefore open to the public/dogs etc.
We reserve the right to cancel the session in the event of bad weather, and to turn away your child if the facilitators deem them inappropriately dressed for the session.
We will contact you in the event of any illness or incident.
