Mindset, Rescue and Search
About this Event
From Justin McWilliams:
Mindset, Rescue, and Search
"We’re not getting lost in the weeds of “how to search a bed.” Instead, we’ll dig into fire service history—LODDs, the patterns we’ve seen, and the myths and recycled information that continue to create hesitation, fear, and decision-making.
We’ll discuss having a plan and how to easily audible for the variables, the why behind it—at the crew level and across the entire department. When the plan is solid, audibles on the fireground become smooth, not chaotic.
Decision-making, coordination, objectives, and communication in search—benefiting everyone from the recruit to the Incident Commander by lowering risk, improving coordination, improving accountability and decreasing surprising the other companies on decisions we make.
We close with Rescue—breaking down the decisions we make, when we make them, and why they matter. The final two hours are geared toward line personnel. Command staff may break off after the main discussion, before we get into the weeds of rescue."
