Mindful Nature Journaling Hike / Forest Park (Queens)
About this Event
Formed by the Wisconsin glacier 20,000 years ago the 543 acre Forest Park offers many dirt trails winding through forested areas, over shady hills, and around Strack Pond. There's continuous oak forest here and I promise you'll feel immersed in nature and forget you're in New York City!
We'll enter the park and hike 30 minutes pausing for a 5 minute meditative breathing exercise followed by a 20 minute nature journaling session where we'll write, sketch, trace, doodle, or notate our impressions. Then we'll hike back out.
MEET UP LOCATION:
We'll meet at the 85th Street-Forest Parkway Station subway entrance, on the corner of 85th Street and Jamaica Ave in front of the 85th Street Deli (see pic below).

engage participants with nature threefold; the hike immerses us in natural surroundings, the meditation quiets the nervous system, and the journaling provides the means to closely observe and connect more deeply with nature.
