Join Kath Kovac and Eli Haski for a wonderful experience of heart opening, with the powerful benefits of a mindfulness drumming circle followed by gentle movement and restful practices of yoga. This unique session will help you clear stagnation from your body, mind and soul, open your heart and create space for your heart’s desires to emerge.
Over 3 hours, we will sit in circle and be guided through a drumming practice (all drums provided) that will help to bring you into deep connection with your body’s inner rhythms and clear pathways to connect deeply with your heart and inner knowing. After some light refreshments and time for connection, you will take to the mat for an introspective and restful yoga practice, culminating in a guided drum journey to connect on the deepest level with yourself.
We are sure this unique experience is one that will help you connect with yourself in a new way, clear deep patterns and open more fully into this new energy and new way of being.
Kath has been working with groups throughout Canberra for many years, introducing them into the wonderful world of rhythm and sound through drumming and mindfulness. We have combined our passions to bring yoga and drumming together in this experience.
Together we have created an experience that will help you relax, remember and reinvigorate your life as we move forward through these transformational energies of change. This event is not to be missed. Spaces are limited, so reserve yours today!
Learn more about finding mindfulness through rhythm
Do you struggle with traditional mindfulness meditation? Find it difficult to clear the mind, sit still and not fidget, and get distracted and annoyed by continual thoughts? Mindfulness has been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, improving mental health and wellbeing. Yet for many of us, stillness-based meditation can feel frustrating or out of reach. In this workshop, you can explore mindfulness through play with djembe drums and percussion instruments, allowing rhythm to guide you beneath thinking and into direct experience. Together we will use breath, body and layered drumming to soften mental noise and slow the nervous system. As sound builds and settles, attention naturally drops into the body, inviting calm without force or striving. The mind is not asked to empty or control itself, but to follow rhythm and sensation into a meditative state that feels accessible and alive. No prior musical or meditation experience is needed. Whether this is your first encounter with meditation or rhythm, or something you’ve practised for years, the invitation is the same: to let sound carry you, to rest in vibration, and to discover how mindfulness can emerge through joy, movement and listening.
About Kath
Dr Kath Kovac is the Director of Mood Boost Drumming. She has 20+ years’ experience of teaching mindfulness, tai chi, qigong and group drumming. She holds regular community drumming circles, runs drum-making retreats, uses frame drums for meditation, plays the timpani in an orchestra, and is learning to play a drumkit. Kath loves the sense of joy and community that comes naturally when people play drums together. Her business brings group drumming to workplaces and community groups for mindfulness, mental health and team building.
About Eli
Eli Haski has been teaching yoga in Canberra for over a decade and is passionate about sound healing, movement and remembering the ancient feminine ways. Her recent adventures into drum making with Kath have enlivened and enriched her passion for sound healing and the ancient rhythms of the drum beat that brings a deep remembering into the roots of our body, awakening the ancient feminine ways. The drum awakens the heart and links us back to our ancestors, the rhythm of the earth and the quiet knowing within us.
