Midlife Hikers walk from Sutton Bank to Helmsley (Cleveland Way section 10)

Our tenth and final section of the Cleveland Way begins at 10.45 from the Sutton Bank visitors centre. Hopefully it will be a clear day where we can take in the views of the landscape all the way to the hills of the Yorkshire Dales. We will walk towards the White Horse of Kilburn, passing the Yorkshire Gliding club, before retracing our steps to head on through the fields and lanes towards Cold Kirby. We will stop for lunch somewhere near here then continue on through mainly fields and woodland, with some road walking for a short distance, until we reach the village of Helmsley.
There are a couple of hills on this walk, but nothing strenuous!

🪧 Meet at the Cleveland Way car park in Helmsley at 10:00, and then we will walk to the Market Place to catch the Moorsbus M4 at 10:30 to Sutton Bank (cost £3)

🚌 28 bus from Scarborough (08:35) to Helmsley Market Place
M5 bus from Northallerton (09:15) and Thirsk (09:40) to Helmsley Market Place
Return buses from Helmsley at 16:30
🚻 Toilets are available in the Cleveland Way Car Park and at Sutton Bank visitors centre.
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch (or allow enough time to buy something in Helmsley before catching the bus)
🐶 Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times
🍺 After the walk, we can stop for drinks and treats in one of the cafés or pubs in Helmsley
Midlife Hikers is a Ramblers group for people in their 40s and 50s, and our walks are led by volunteers. Non-members are welcome to try us out for free for up to 3 walks but then we ask you to join the Ramblers
