🥾 10 miles 🥾 Moderate 🥾 Leader: Tanya 🥾We begin our journey meeting in the Filey Brigg Country park by the toilets. We will follow the grassy cliff-top paths following the narrow rock peninsula that marks the northern end of Filey Bay. From here, we head north along the Cleveland Way, tracing the high sandstone cliffs that offer panoramic views of the North Sea.
We will be stopping for lunch at Cayton Bay. This is a beautiful, sweeping bay, popular with surfers and fossil hunters. It’s the perfect place to rest our legs and take in the sea air before we tackle the final stretch toward Scarborough. There are toilets available here (hopefully open) and picnic benches, which shouldn't be too busy in March!
After lunch, we continue past Osgodby Point. As we round South Cliff, the classic vista of Scarborough Castle and the bustling South Bay harbour will come into view. We’ll finish the day descending into Scarborough, where the pier and plenty of refreshments await 🍦.
TRANSPORT AND TRAVEL
➡️ Please note this is a linear walk
🅿️ If you are coming by car, you can either park at Filey Brigg country park (£11.90 all day), and then get the train back from Scarborough to Filey after the walk (£2.20 single) – trains run every hour, on the hour – or park at Scarborough station (£6.20 all day) and get the 10:00 train to Filey, then it is a short walk from the station to the meeting point
🚂 If you are coming by public transport, there are trains to Filey from Scarborough (10:00) and Hull (09:20) – if you are coming from York then get the 09:15 towards Scarborough and change at Seamer – it is a short walk from the station to the meeting point – return trains from Scarborough every hour through the afternoon

🐶 Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times
🥾 When I recced this walk it was extremely slippery with the mud, we could experience this still on our big day. The steps down to the bay can be a bit slick, I highly recommend walking boots and walking poles are a good idea to help with balance.
