About this Event
Who This Workshop Is For
This workshop is designed for middle-school students who are capable but struggling with arithmetic accuracy, number sense, or foundational math concepts.
Many students encounter difficulty in later mathematics not because they lack ability, but because important early concepts were rushed or never fully explained.
What Makes This Different
Rather than memorizing shortcuts, students learn how numbers behave and how to reason through problems.
What Students Will Do
Participants will work through carefully selected problems that emphasize:
• accurate multi-digit addition and subtraction
• number sense and reasoning
• checking work for accuracy
• thinking more deliberately about how numbers behave
Students complete a brief pre-check and post-check to help measure improvement during the session.
Workshop Format
• Small-group instruction
• Guided problem solving
• Immediate feedback and correction
• Structured exercises designed to strengthen foundational skills
