Tap Dancer, bandleader, educator, and the 2026 Healdsburg Jazz Rising Star Artist in Residence Michela Marino Lerman presents “Giant Steps: Tapping into Coltrane”, a soaring tribute to the legendary saxophonist and composer John Coltrane, who’s centennial anniversary is being honored throughout the world of music this year.
Michela Marino Lerman is one of the pioneering tap dance artists in the nation today. She has worked with the renowned Wynton Marsalis, among her many achievements and accomplishments. As a young child, she was a student of the legendary Gregory Hines and is a frequent collaborator with many of the top musicians based in New York City. Over the past 6 years Michela has also worked closely with actress and celebrated playwright Anna Deavere Smith. For “Giant Steps: Tapping into Coltrane”, Michela Marino Lerman and her Quartet will perform compositions from the expansive repertoire of John Coltrane including Giant Steps, Naima, Spiral, Syeeda Song Flute, Mr. Day, A Love Supreme, Acknowledgment, Resolution, My Favorite Things, and more.
The night will be presented by MC Brad Stone, and the Michela Marino Lerman Quartet will feature Raffi Garabedian (tenor sax), Glenn Pearson (piano), Marcus Shelby (bass), and Jaimeo Brown (drums).
