Have you been curious about the MESA but unable to attend the full week? Leah Bee (esteemed host) has offered her land for a concentrated Mesa Camp. This is a great opportunity to experience the Butoh and Ritual Dance work of the Mesa and be a part of our growing community. Persevering Hearts will be the theme.
If you feel the call, amidst the hard, beautiful work of just being human… Please come and add your prayers, dreams and visions for a better world together. I would love to see you there.
The MESA revives the ancient understanding of "art" as a vital aspect of our responsibility to live beautifully within the web of creation. It is less a “workshop” and more of a collaborative prayer in which our dancing is offered as gift in the sincere belief that beauty matters. Butoh is a powerful vehicle to liberate our creativity through sanctifying both light and dark to align with the life force through movement. Ritual Dance is the intentional offering of our dance to the forces, entities and spirits that sustain this flowering world. How do we take our creativity from the personal to the universal?
We will gather on Friday afternoon 3pm to set up camp, share a meal and have an opening circle. On Saturday we will dance on the land in and around Mother Seed. The morning will consist of physical training designed to open the joints and energy centers of the body, specific dance forms and improvisational scores. The afternoon will consist of creating dance scores on the land and integrating your personal intentions into a group ritual to offer at the closing of the day. In the evening, we will again share food and camaraderie around the fire.. Sunday morning will be a closing circle and camp cleanup.
Mother Seed Farm will be providing food for us throughout the weekend. All meals are included in the event.
This workshop requires camping on site and all participants will need to bring their own camping gear. Water, toilet and cooking facilities will be provided. But participant should be comfortable with living and camping in the outdoors.
THE LAND: At 6,700+ feet elevation, this 35 acre property is nestled in the foothills of Mt. Lamborn, surrounded by National Forest, BLM land, a wildlife sanctuary and a 400 acre ranch. Quietly away from the hustle and bustle of the world "out there", this land offers us the opportunity to sink into another way of being, a different timeline and a deeper presence. We are completely off grid, rustic and enjoy incredible stargazing at night. We are located 1.2 miles up an unmaintained forest service road, so high clearance, 4WD vehicles are recommended to arrive here. We can help shuttle people and gear who are uncomfortable bringing there vehicle up the road.
THE STEWARD: Leah Bee is a mother, ceremonialist, musician, writer and artist. For the past 15 years she has been digging deeper into what it means to be human in these times of great change. She has years of experience hosting spiritual gatherings, women's gatherings, song circles, prayer circles and most days, prefers to spend her time outside wildcrafting herbs with her four year old daughter.

This is a facilitator-held immersive process that asks for presence, maturity, and participation. It is not passive or consumptive; it is relational, experiential, and collaborative. Participants are invited to arrive with a willingness to tend their own process while contributing attentively to a shared field of respect, listening, creative responsibility, and cultural exchange.
