About this Event
We know mental health is important when it comes to health, but why?
When our mental health takes a dip, our sympathetic nervous system is often engaged due to the detrimental effects of anxiety and depression. This means we can get stuck in a fight, flight or freeze response, which causes our body to alter its hormonal responses to both internal and external stressors.
Problems can emerge when our bodies are triggering these responses for prolonged periods. This can cause a detrimental cycle to occur where your brain is distracted from the healing process, impacting overall health and wellness, leading your body to feel more overwhelmed and stressed leading to even worse mental health.
Mental health can also affect your posture. The fight or flight response often leads to a slumped posture, with the head dropped and the shoulders rounded. That stress can then appear in the tissues around your spine, leading to a condition called vertebral subluxation.
When your spine is out of alignment, your nervous system is not able to appropriately manage stress to the best of it's ability.
People with mental health disorders are more likely to suffer from:
- Subluxations- Back and Neck Pain
- Headaches & Migraines
- Hypertension
- Respiratory disorders
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Metabolic Disorders
Join us for this insightful workshop as Dr Adam McKenzie (chiropractor) chats about mental health, its impact on the central nervous system and ways to manage your mental health so you can enjoy a life of optimal vitality!
