Mending Generational Trauma through Sound

Welcome to a serene gathering where we invite you to explore the healing of intergenerational trauma through the restorative vibrations of a sound bath. Intergenerational trauma, a concept that is gaining attention in psychological circles, refers to the transference of emotional and psychological wounds from one generation to another. This phenomenon, observed in the wake of mass tragedies, family abuse, and societal oppression, can influence our DNA, behavior, and mental health across multiple generations.

Recent studies, such as those investigating Holocaust survivors and their descendants, have found evidence of trauma's impact on epigenetic markers – chemical changes that regulate DNA activity. This legacy of pain, fear, and worldviews shaped by past horrors can be passed down, even subconsciously, as anxiety and an inherited sense of danger, permeating through our very genes and behaviors.

Our event, steeped in empathy and understanding, is not just about acknowledging these deep-seated traumas but also about fostering resilience that can be equally transmitted. Through the transcendent medium of sound, we'll engage in somatic healing – aligning our bodies and minds with frequencies that can help rewrite our narratives.

In this sound bath, we aim to dislodge the imprints of inherited trauma, replacing them with sensations of safety and acceptance. As we journey through the soothing sounds, we hope to break the cycle of hurt, embrace activism within ourselves, and learn to speak openly and without shame about our collective past, integrating it into a narrative of empowerment and growth.

Our sound bath practitioner, Gigi Turner PsyD, is always available to chat about your sound bath experience for up to an hour, should you wish to discuss anything that you felt or opened up to during the session.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐒 𝐀 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐇?

A sound bath is a meditative experience where people are "bathed" in sound waves produced by various overtone-emitting instruments, including singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and more. During a sound bath, people lie down and listen to resonant sounds, allowing their brain waves to slow and shift from a more active state to a more relaxed or dreamlike state. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation, explore self-inquiry and self-discovery, and help people let go of stress, anxiety, or other worries. A sound bath is typically a way of managing anxiety, soothing the nervous system, and blocking all the ideas and thoughts out of your consciousness as you connect with your body.

We kindly ask that you bring a blanket or sheet to cover and protect our cushioned floor mats—this helps us preserve their quality. You’re also welcome to bring an extra blanket and a pillow for your own comfort and coziness. No yoga mat needed! Please dress comfortably, bring water, and eat beforehand.

For the best experience and to ensure a harmonious start for all participants, we kindly request your timely arrival. Your punctuality is greatly appreciated. Doors open 7 minutes before event start time.

If you have any serious medical condition (i.e. metal in the body brain injury, recent surgery, epilepsy, etc...) make sure you get written permission from your doctor allowing your attendance of a live sound bath. The reason being that some conditions do not take well to the strong vibrations of sound baths. Additionally, please inform Gigi of your condition before joining us at our sound bath, thank you!
