Join MyOutdoorJoy for an unforgettable Memorial Day Weekend on the white sands of Bear Island at Hammocks Beach State Park. This is the beach camping experience you’ve been waiting for: undeveloped shoreline, sweeping dunes, and the convenience of restrooms, cold-water showers, and a seasonal concession stand. All of our campouts are family-friendly. This is a Bring Your Own Gear (BYO‑Gear) event unless you are a Premier Member, whose membership includes free tent rental. We provide the coordination, structure, and group activities; you bring your tent, sleeping setup, and weekend provisions.

YOUR WEEKEND ITINERARY:

Saturday, May 23rd
– Check-in at the Mainland Visitor Center (arrive by 2:00 PM; no later than 4:00 PM)
– Early arrival is allowed, but tents cannot be set up before check-in
– Ferry ride to Bear Island
– Group hike and coastal ecology discussion (sea turtles, dunes, and island history)
– Evening movie (PG or PG‑13)

Sunday, May 24th
– Morning yoga and meditation
– Breakfast cooking showcase (fun and informal; no judging)
– Free time to swim, explore, or relax
– Evening movie

Monday, May 25th
– Morning beach time
– Pack up and prepare for departure
– Campsite checkout required by 12:00 PM

IMPORTANT LOGISTICS: This is a self‑sufficient camping trip. You are responsible for your own gear, food, and personal items. You must be able to transport your equipment from the ferry dock to the campsite, which includes a walk of approximately one‑quarter mile on sand. A collapsible beach cart and sturdy backpack are highly recommended. The island provides drinking water and restroom facilities, allowing you to focus on the experience rather than primitive survival.
