Dear Dancers: Melty Micro is changing things up for 2026! Rather than being a monthly event, we are going to focus on highlighting only the most requested artists and themes - and moving to a new night! Our first 2026 event will feature our highest reviewed DJs from 2025 - the sister duo of DJ Jules and DJ Mars!
More detail to come, for now save the date!
The usual info:
While there is no official basic step for micro, dancers often rely on synced breath, tiny weight shifts, body isolations, and changing energy levels to further embody the music.
For our friends who haven't been to a micro event - if you've been to a late-night zouk, blues, kizomba, or similar event, you'll feel right at home! Or if you're a new (or non!) dancer who loves connection, music, community, we'll take good care of you too.
We aim to keep the cost as low as possible for this event, but if you have financial concerns please reach out. This is meant to be a space for every body.
Schedule:
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Micro Workshop
9:00 PM - 12:00 AM: DJed Micro Social ft. DJ Jules & DJ Mars
About our DJs:
Dancer and music fanatic, DJ Jules has been part of the fusion community for several years. She loves nothing more than sharing her passion through music and dance expression. Her sets often include an interesting contrast of edgy electronic sounds and ethereal, melty beats. DJ Jules loves to travel and spread her love for music, and she often DJs in the LA and Austin areas and is hoping to explore more places!
DJ Mars has been in the dance scene for nearly a decade, and in recent years has discovered her passion for DJing as well. Her sets blend soulful r&b with experimental electric beats, creating an atmosphere that’s both sultry and fun, with a touch of trippy musicality that keeps listeners on their toes.
About the host/instructor: Jason is a former professional (now hobbyist) dancer, event host and DJ who believes there's nothing better than those dances where you and your partner forget the rest of the world for a few moments. He loves to teach the dance skills and create the environment that makes that possible. He is a proud member of Safer Dances Spaces - and is committed to providing a safe and welcoming space that fosters connection, communication, and authenticity.

FAQ:
Anything I should be aware of about the space?
Please be respectful of the space! Most importantly, please do not touch the mirrors, and do protect the floor by wearing flats or wide heels. No spiked heels!
Food/drink?
There is a small lobby where you can eat food you've brought. Please no food or drink besides water in the studio. Water will be available for refilling water bottles (no water bottles will be provided, please bring your own!).
Hygiene?
Micro is usually danced quite closely; please be mindful of your partners and the community by both practicing good hygiene and avoiding strong smelling chemicals.
Parking?
We recommend parking on Robertson if available. Though if you need to park on a side street, we are happy to help you find someone to walk you back to your car! If you do park on a side street, please be mindful of noise as the studio is in a quiet neighborhood. Finally, if you generally feel safe walking in LA, please consider leaving closer spots available for those who do not.
Consent & Code of Conduct?
As a member of Safer Dances Spaces (SDS) https://www.facebook.com/saferdancespaces, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all our dancers. As such, all attendees will be required to read and accept the SDS Zero Tolerance Policy.
