At Eco Adventure Camp participants will explore and experience the unique local flora and fauna of Beaver Creek Conservation Area through guided nature hikes, hands on activities, and creative projects.
Ideal for young explorers aged 8-11, our day camps run from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Wednesday to Friday, during select weeks in July and August.
Each day typically includes a hike on one of the trails, outdoor activities and games as well as related craft projects. Past campers have enjoyed: creek dipping, bird watching, building beaver dams, creating nature art, exploring soils, making music, and identifying plants and animals.
Additionally, guest experts from other environmental and nature organizations will be invited to lead a session or two. Previous sessions have included wildlife rehabilitation, daytime astronomy and making solar viewboxes, and bat conservation while meeting rescue bats!
Campers should be comfortable walking 3 km (with breaks) before signing up, as camp programs take place primarily outdoors with limited access to indoor facilities. Therefore, campers must also wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for walking the trails.
Please also note meals will NOT be provided, so campers will need to bring their own lunch and snacks. Additionally, the water at Beaver Creek Conservation Area is NOT potable, so campers will need a full water bottle (or two!).
An orientation package will be provided to parents/guardians closer to camp, with more details, on how to dress, what to bring and the general camp schedule.
