Meet local authors Brendan James and Lainy J Thomas for an evening of book chat about their work and author journeys.
About the authors:
Lainy J. Thomas (pen name) was born in the 1960s and grew up in a variety of locations, mainly in the West Midlands. Her first published novel "A Place Called Home" is a work of fiction but draws together experiences, which, sadly, are not atypical in a working class environment. Lainy wrote "Just one Year" during the height of the global pandemic of 2020/2021 and her latest book Father Things and Flings follows the story of Mia who longs to find the father she never knew.
Brendan James is the pen name of the man who wrote the comedy novel, “Gerard Philey’s Euro-Diary: Quest for a Life” and “Interrail Ramblings”, a Euro-Rail travelogue. Ex-teacher and ex-heterosexual, current curmudgeon and beer drinker, he lives with his husband in the West Midlands, wondering what it’s all about. His book, Interrail Ramblings is l ight-hearted pick-n-mix bag of bite-sized railway travelogues, peppered with a bit of Euro-train history and random ramblings. Meanwhile, Gerald Philey's Euro Diary is a 1990s diary is a laugh out loud, fun-filled tale of a Brit abroad on a quest for a better life.
An evening of conversation and interview is followed by Q&A from the audience and book signing and photo opportunities, plus book sales. Cost £6 person.
