Meet the Artist is a collaboration between The CreActive Hub and De Weeffabriek
This edition proudly features *Laura Carter*, an English illustrator based in Eindhoven. Laura’s work is deeply inspired by traditional artistic techniques and her profound connection with the natural world. Through her illustrations, she brings a sense of wonder and storytelling to every page, creating fantastical scenes rich in natural detail and atmosphere.
Narrative plays a central role in Laura’s artistic language. Whether portraying a single moment—such as an owl gliding through a mysterious night sky—or developing a sequence of illustrations that follow the journey of a tiny adventurer exploring vast, magical forests, her work invites viewers into immersive visual stories.
Laura’s illustrations often extend beyond paper and are thoughtfully translated into functional and analogue objects, including notebooks, bookmarks, writing sets, planners, and art prints. With a strong commitment to quality printmaking, tactile finishes, and eco-conscious materials, her creations are designed to be long-lasting pieces that can be treasured over time. Her artistic process and sustainable values have been carefully refined throughout her thirteen-year career as a freelance illustrator.
During the exhibition, visitors will discover how Laura builds the narrative behind her artwork, from initial inspiration and sketch development to watercolor techniques and pencil character creation. Final artworks will be displayed alongside original sketchbooks, inspiration references, experimental pieces, and personal notes that reveal insights into her creative practice.
Alongside her personal and commissioned projects, Laura also shares her knowledge and passion for art by teaching workshops. She can often be found working in her studio, teaching outdoors in gardens, or exploring forests while practicing her analogue photography, continually drawing inspiration from the natural environments that influence her artistic world.
