Meet our Iron Age Pigs at Panshanger Park

A rare chance to meet some very special pigs and learn about their role in rewilding.

Join Community Ranger Dan Hamley on a short guided walk (300m) from the historic stables to meet the newest residents of Panshanger Park – our Iron Age pigs! These fascinating animals are part of an exciting habitat management project, and this event offers a chance to see them up close during feeding time.

Dan will explain how the pigs' natural instinct to root and forage helps improve the biodiversity of the park by breaking up compacted ground and encouraging the growth of wildflowers and other native species.

From the B1000 look for the White lodge building and Tarmac signs. http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=529266&Y=213486&A... Enter through the metal gate and follow the track along until there is a right fork with signs to ‘Area Office’. Continue along this track until you reach a car park. Do not use the Thieves Lane Carpark. 

Please note:

• The walk is short but involves uneven ground; suitable footwear is recommended.
• Suitable for both adults and children (children must be accompanied by an adult).

This event is part of Heritage Open Days 2025 at Panshanger Park. Make sure to also explore the stables and check out the other free activities happening over the weekend. But please book to avoid disapointment.
