Medusa's Temple Open Community Hours

Come use the space as a temple priestess. The space is open to any Medusa Temple Community members. In order to be a member, you must identify as a woman and a trauma or abuse survivor.

Light a candle, burn incense, bring an offering to leave at the altar, write, create, cry, move your body to music, reset, read, learn, journal, drink tea, sit in sileance, have a connected conversation with the communty, use the runes, use the tarot decks, use the orcal cards, check out a book from the community library, sleep, or do what ever else it is that you need to do to heal and restore. This space is yours to use as you need. All items in the temple are free to use, donations are appreciated.

Not sure what any of this is but still curious? Come have a conversation. This is a private residence in Lincoln Place neighborhood Pittsburgh Pa. Exact location will be sent 24 hours in advance.

Why Medusa?

The story of Medusa is vita to the health and healing of the divine feminine in our culture. We are called to rise up , go inward, and reclaim our own sovergnity, especially after suffering abuse in isolation and silenace for so long. We will no longer be reduced to the darkness. We will meet. We will connect. We will speak up. We will heal.

The Medusa story goes like this: She was a beautiful young demigod. Posidan chased her into the temple of Athena and gave her a choice: she could submit to him or he would choose one of the human girls to rape instead. She chose to alow the abuse in order to spare the human, even though they were terrified of her and called her a monster. She suffered and endured, AND then was punninshed a seccond time. When Athena found out, she turned Medusa into the gorgona we all know with snakes for hair and a gaze that turns to stone. AND THEN, she was punished a third time. When Hera found out, she sent perseus to hunt and behead her for her defilement of Athena's Temple. Her community failed her even when she choose to protect. She didn't get a redemption ,UNTIL NOW. The Medusa Temple is a vigil for any who identify with this story; anyone who needs refuge and community after abuse. We take strenght from Medusa's strenght. We offer our voice, our story, and our healing as reparation to her. In community, we continue the work of healing this wound.
