About this Event
ABOUT THIS SESSION
Meditation in Ink is a quiet, self-led brush-and-ink session rooted in a tradition practised for well over a thousand years in China as a way of meditation. It is often associated with Buddhist culture, but you do not need to be Buddhist at all. This is not a guided class. Instead, it is private, unguided time in a serene setting, designed for slow repetition, steady attention, and a calmer mind.
HOW IT WORKS (CHOOSE ONE OPTION)
Option 1 - Sutra transcription
If you recognise Chinese characters, you can practise traditional sutra transcription through slow, mindful copying. The focus is calm attention, not speed or "perfect" writing.
Option 2 - Buddha portrait tracing (beginner-friendly)
If you do not read or write Chinese, you can trace a Buddha portrait using translucent paper placed over an original image. This gives you the same meditative repetition without needing language knowledge.
