Join the Naples Pride community for an exploration of meditation! This is an opportunity to nourish your spiritual practice with the support of a loving community. Each meeting, Laurie will introduce two different meditation practices. The hour will include discussion, guided meditation, and time in silence. Meditation techniques will include breath practices, body scan, Yoga nidra (guided meditation practiced lying down), metta (loving-kindness and compassion practice) and more.
The benefits of meditation practice can be wide and varied. Many folks experience feelings of peace and relaxation, physiological healing, mental clarity, inner strength, deeper intuition. . . the list goes on and on. All levels of experience are welcome. No need to pre-register. Just show up!
About the facilitator:
Laurie Lyons (she/her) has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1996. In 2003, she began formal Zen practice, and in 2010, took jukai (lay Buddhist vows). She has been teaching meditation in SWFL since 2010. Laurie is an Ordained Minister through American Marriage Ministries, authorized to officiate ceremonies of all
kinds. She teaches meditation in a wide variety of settings, including churches, artist communities, rehab centers, and backyards. Laurie holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance. She worked as an orchestral musician with the Naples Philharmonic for over 20 years. She also works as a piano teacher and gets to receive Zen wisdom from small children every day.
