Join us on a journey back to the Middle Ages, when the streets of Hanseatic Tallinn rang with the voices of merchants, master craftsmen, musicians, and travellers from near and far. For more than twenty-five years, the Medieval Days have brought the Old Town to life, reviving ancient customs, traditional crafts, and the music of ages past.
The festivities begin with the customary opening procession and celebrations in Town Hall Square. At the heart of the festival lies the medieval market, where skilled artisans display their craft and offer fine Estonian handiwork, often made and sold by the masters themselves.
This year’s programme features the Polish early music ensemble Daj Ognia, alongside beloved performers from Estonia, including Hortus Musicus, Rondellus, Prunus Armeniaca, Musica Silentii, and Targad Neitsid.
In the Medieval Village, visitors may meet the Bonesetters, who tend to weary bodies, and seek counsel from the enigmatic card readers, whose tarot cards may reveal something of the present—or perhaps what lies ahead.
A special theatrical performance unfolds among the towers and streets of the Old Town, offering a fresh way to experience Tallinn’s rich history. Lectures, guided walks, and hands-on workshops take place throughout the city, allowing visitors to explore old knowledge and try ancient crafts for themselves.
