The creation and birth of a medicine drum is a sacred journey of self-awareness and intention. The medicine drum carries the spirit of the tree the hoop is made from, and the spirit of the animal from which the drumhead and lacing are made from. The tree and animal spirits combine with your spirit journey thus far, your prayers, intentions, the collective ceremonial energy of all gathered for the workshop, and the great creative forces that move through you to birth your drum. These alchemical elements fuse together to create your medicine drum.

During this workshop you will be asked to step into the hoop of sacred ceremony with all who gather, and the elements of nature to be fully present and alive in creative flow as these medicine drums come to life. It is an honor to be a keeper of the heartbeat of a medicine drum. Over the years of joyful playing in prayer and ceremony, the potency your drum’s unique voice and medicine will grow richer and stronger.

The workshop ends when all medicine drums are birthed. It typically takes between 5-6 hrs.

$150 plus the cost of your drum kit

Pre-registration and payment for drum kit deadline is Wed., May 20th- Please be prompt so all the kits arrive in time!
You will be contacted by Suzanne Silvermoon after you register to handle the drum kit portion

During the workshop:
~ You will be provided with your own personal “pre-ordered” drum kit made of a maple wood hoop, deer rawhide drumhead, and rawhide lacing. If you would like a different type of animal rawhide, please contact me. Other hide types vary is cost (Cow, Horse, Goat, Bear Buffalo, Elk, Moose)

Sourcing for the drum making materials. Suzanne purchases most of the hides from a local WA based company that is native indigenous owned and operated. They've said they source their hides from a variety of places. They work with hunters for the deer and elk, and with Bison and Cow farmers for those hides, The horse hides come from a variety of sources. Their hoops are made from maple.

~ You will be guided into the hoop of sacred ceremony and inner journey to open your heart to your deeper motivations, prayers, and intentions for
creating your medicine drum.

~ You will grow your medicine community from being in sacred ceremony and co-creation with the rest of the participants.

~ You will be nourished from the land and intentional community of Sacred Dwelling.

~ You will be given detailed instructions on the creation and care of your drum.

~ You will enjoy a vegetarian lunch and tea

~ After all drums are complete, we will enjoy a special medicine drum birthing ceremony and closing circle.

~ One ½” to 1” diameter and 12” to 24” long stick to make your drum stick with

Suzanne Silvermoon's Bio:
Suzanne has been making drums for herself and guiding others as well for thirty years. She finds drumming and the Circle Way to be a supportive, healing, life changing, and life affirming part of her life. Suzanne has participated in Moon Lodge just as long. She passionately supports other women to create Lodges and find connection, resource, and joy within 'the circle'.

Suzanne also is a LPN, LMT, Certified Yoga Therapist, and Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor is a transformational healer and teacher who recognizes the multi-dimensional aspects of the human experience. Suzanne guides her students and clients drawing from a deep well of over 40 years of yoga practice, over 15 years teaching yoga, meditation and ayurveda, coupled with 28 years as a holistic nurse. She is also the very proud mama of her young adult daughter who is thriving in her life.

Suzanne’s dharma (life mission) is to support individuals in
liberating themselves from the physical, mental, and emotional binds that have been holding them back from realizing their healthy, beautiful, and radiant self. Suzanne believes that as each person transforms and awakens the whole world benefits.
