About this Event
Join us for an engaging workshop on container gardening and backyard gardening basics! We'll cover essential topics to help you grow healthy, productive plants tailored to your space, whether it's a yard, balcony, deck, or covered porch.
Our workshop will include:
- How to plant effectively in various spaces
- Techniques for intercropping to maximize yield
- Creating perennial gardens and incorporating perennial edibles
- The benefits of choosing native plants for success with fewer resources
- How to make your garden pollinator friendly
- Reusing containers year after year to reduce waste and cost
Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your gardening skills, this workshop will help you create an eco-friendly garden that supports local pollinators and fits your unique space. Come learn, share ideas, and get inspired to grow your own food!
All materials are provided and include a planting container, gloves, soil, and plants. We encourage you to bring your own containers so you can plant more to take home!
Participation Requirements
- Monroe residents only: You must live within Monroe's incorporated city limits. We’ll verify that your address is within city limits before confirming your spot.
- Sign up in advance: Space and supplies are limited, so you must register ahead of time.
- Bring your own containers: Each household may create one container garden with containers we provide, but bringing your own containers will allow you to plant more!
