The workshop 'Measurement and Models: from ancient philosophy to public health' will be held at Durham University on 26 June 9.00 - 5.00.
About this Event

The workshop will explore the topic of measurement and models from an interdisciplinary perspective that includes ancient philosophy, the philosophy and science of measurement, the use of models and measurement in AI, digital humanities, and public health. Some of the questions that will be investigated are:

  • What is the kind of knowledge acquired via measurements and models?
  • How is this knowledge acquired? What purpose does it serves?
  • What is the relation between measurements and models and right/due measure?
  • What is the role of models in the acquisition of knowledge?
