One of the Midwest’s most prolific and deeply affecting singer-songwriters, Erlewine writes with uncommon honesty about heartbreak, resilience, womanhood, hope and the complicated work of being human. Her music moves naturally through folk, soul, Americana and roots rock, led by a voice that can feel both quietly intimate and powerfully assured.
For this special White Lilac performance, May will be joined by Packy Lundholm, adding another musical voice to an already intimate evening and bringing additional depth, texture and chemistry to these remarkable songs.
Her songs have traveled far beyond her Michigan roots. Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, Lindsay Lou, Joshua Davis and others have performed her work. Her song “Shine On” reached a national television audience when The Voice winner Sawyer Fredericks sang it during the show’s Top Six round—a performance Rolling Stone noted had viewers searching for the songwriter behind it.
Erlewine’s beloved album Mother Lion featured members of Vulfpeck, including Joe Dart, Theo Katzman and Woody Goss, and introduced many listeners to the empowering anthem “Never One Thing.” She later collaborated with Goss on the soulful, jazz-inflected album Anyway. Her 2025 release, What It Takes, was produced by Theo Katzman and found Erlewine bringing additional rock-and-roll fire to her deeply human songwriting. Her creative momentum continues with new 2026 music, including the single “CAN’T HIDE.”
