Connor Garvey At White Lilac
About this Event
White Lilac welcomes Connor Garvey, an award-winning singer-songwriter from Portland, Maine whose music combines the immediacy of a gifted live performer with the lyrical depth of a writer who knows how to find something universal inside the deeply personal.
Garvey has quietly built the kind of résumé that commands attention in the American folk and singer-songwriter world. He is a winner of the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition, the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriter Showcase, the Wildflower Festival Singer-Songwriter Competition and the SolarFest Singer-Songwriter Showcase. He was audience-voted a Most Wanted Artist at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, nominated for Best Male Artist at the New England Music Awards, and selected among SiriusXM The Coffee House's top new singer-songwriters.
Along the way, Garvey has appeared at some of the country's most respected folk festivals and intimate listening rooms and has shared stages with artists including David Wilcox, Ellis Paul, John Gorka, Brett Dennen, Catie Curtis, Tall Heights and The Ballroom Thieves.
But the résumé only tells part of the story.
Garvey is a storyteller in the truest sense—warm, funny, thoughtful and remarkably good at making a room full of strangers feel connected. His songs explore relationships, purpose, community, loss, hope and what it means to live a meaningful life without ever becoming heavy-handed. His melodies invite you in; the words are what stay with you.
His songwriting has even taken him far outside the usual music-world boundaries. Garvey once crossed the North Atlantic aboard a cargo ship as part of a cultural exchange between Maine and Iceland, writing the songs that became his Chasing Horizons project while living alongside the ship's Russian and Icelandic crew.
Critics have taken notice as well. Glide Magazine called his album Another End of a Year his “most powerful record yet,” praising Garvey's ability to reach the core of vulnerable human emotions. The Maine Edge described the record as “top-tier material,” while Americana UK praised the work as “quality song-craft.”
And Garvey continues to move forward. Following a run of new music in 2025, he released “So Simple” with The Finestkind featuring Dominic Lavoie in 2026, adding another chapter to an already substantial body of work.
This is exactly the kind of artist White Lilac was created for: an accomplished songwriter, an intimate room, and an audience close enough to hear every word.
If you love discovering extraordinary artists before everyone else around you knows their name, don't miss Connor Garvey at White Lilac.
Come for the songs. Leave with a few of them following you home.
