It commemorates historic struggles for fair working conditions, including the fight for the eight-hour workday, and remains a symbol of solidarity and social justice worldwide.
This year, MSEA-SEIU Local 1989 will be anchoring a May Day event in Portland. It is particularly important that we gather in solidarity as our Executive Branch union colleagues have been without a contract for 10 months. This rally is also an opportunity for us to raise awareness of our labor disputes, including advocating for a living wage for our adjunct faculty, addressing unsafe facilities and working conditions, and highlighting the ongoing staffing shortages we face as we try to serve the public.
Join us on the steps of Portland City Hall on Friday, May 1st at 5:15pm. This is what solidarity looks like!
