Max Wareham is a banjo player, songwriter, and author from Boston, MA. A longtime member of the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Wareham has toured nationally with the group and appears on Rowan’s Grammy-nominated album Calling You From My Mountain.
Drawing on traditional bluegrass and lo-fi indie folk, Wareham’s live performances move from intimate storytelling to explosive ensemble moments, anchored throughout by the banjo and his band The National Bluegrass Team.
Wareham released his debut album, Daggomit! (2025), following two years on the road with Rowan. Recorded by multi-Grammy-winning engineer Sean Sullivan, the record features collaborations with Chris Eldridge, David Grier, Laura Orshaw, Chris Henry, Mike Bub, and Larry Atamanuik, with Rowan appearing as guest singer and producer.
Beyond performance, Wareham is also an historian of the instrument. His book Rudy Lyle: The Unsung Hero of the Five String Banjo documents the life and music of early bluegrass banjo master Rudy Lyle.
Wareham’s second album, If the Cosmos Were Whiskey…, will be released June 19.
Betsy Green & The Bottom Dollars are a New England bluegrass trio built around fiddler and vocalist Betsy Green, whose playing blends melodic finesse with deep roots in traditional American string music. Alongside Dave Shaw (banjo/mandolin) and Tim FitzPatrick (guitar), the group brings lively energy to the stage with tight three-part harmonies, driving banjo, and soaring fiddle, mixing overlooked bluegrass classics, original songs, and traditional tunes drawn from the rich Americana tradition.
