OUR MATH AND PHYSICS SUMMER CAMPS ARE OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED! REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
Calling all young scientists and mathematicians!
We invite the kids of our wonderful community to join us for a summer of learning and fun! We are so happy that we finally found great spaces right here in town to host our camps this year, and we can't wait to get started!
These camps are an exciting extension of our popular after-school Physics Playground and Math Playtime classes, run by a team of two dedicated teachers with PhD and Master's Degrees in Engineering – Dr. Holl and Ms. Maria Williford. Despite our two-hour-long after-school classes, our students often don’t want to leave the classroom, which we see as the best compliment to our work! With longer day camp sessions, our young engineers and scientists will have the luxury of time to tackle more advanced projects, freely experiment, learn, and play!
Here is what we have lined up for this summer:
PHYSICS PLAYGROUND CAMPS (AGES 6–10)
Location: Stanley Middle School Campus (3455 School St, Lafayette)
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Extended AM/PM care is available)
Week 1 (June 22–26): Mechanical Wonders
This week, kids experiment with structural engineering and simple machines! Using gears, pulleys, ball bearings, 3D-printed parts, and hydraulic systems, our students will design and build intricate structures, fast vehicles, working siege machines, and marble runs!
Week 2 (July 27–31): Magic of Invisible Forces
Explore the science of the unseen! Our students will learn about electricity by creating projects with LED lights and motors, explore the science of sound and light, and build their own telescopes, musical instruments, and custom light swords! Completing Week 1 is not required.
MATH PLAYTIME CAMP (AGES 8–12)
Location: Oak Room at the Lafayette Library (3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette)
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Extended AM/PM care is available)
One Week Only (July 6–10): Math Everywhere You Look
Did you know that math is hidden in plain sight all around us? We invite curious minds to explore deep math concepts through fun math problems, logic puzzles, and clever board games. Together, we will uncover the beautiful math behind optics, prisms, and forced-perspective illusions, and even build custom optical illusion models to take home!
Spaces are very limited because we want to provide high-quality instruction and personal attention for every camper.
