Masters Runners Day: Better with Age

Come join us in Taunton for a day filled with expert running talk, training and camaraderie led by established UKA licensed coaches and running specialists.

Who is it for?

The day is aimed at performance focussed endurance masters runners of all ages, from V35 upwards. If you are already an England or Great Britain masters runner, or have aspirations to represent at distances on or off the track from 1500 upwards to marathon, then this event is for you.

Whilst the day is aimed at runners, personal coaches are welcome to attend at a reduced volunteer coach rate. This is aimed at coaches or run leader with valid UKA current licence.

What will we be doing?

Throughout the day we will explore various performance factors and considerations for masters athletes with content aimed at supporting you to get the most out of yourself as a runner. The day will be a mixture of presentations, workshops and practical activity, including a track session tailored to individual needs.

Who is running the day?

UKA licensed coaches Charlotte Fisher and Mark Brace have over 60 years of coaching, athlete and coach development experience between them and will be joined by runner and nutitionist Alice Murray-Gourlay.

Charlotte was at the forefront of getting the popular England Age Group Masters programme off the ground in her former role as England Road Running Manager. She coaches runners from club through to county, national and international standard, including a Paralympic bronze medallist and a World Masters record holder. She also has extensive experience as a team coach with Great Britain and England representative teams on the track, road and cross-country. Charlotte is passionate about holistic health and wellbeing for runners believing this to be at the core of performing well.

Mark is currently the England Athletics Talent Lead (South) for off track endurance and has played a leading role in supporting endurance athletes and coaches through his work with England Athletics and through the South West Endurance Network for over a decade now. He has coached athletes from 400/800 to marathon distances at club level through to international and has also been a Team Coach for England on a number of occasions. As a coach, coach mentor and educator Mark has helped to develop a number of resources and programmes with England Athletics with a focus on strength and conditioning for endurance runners, an area he is particuarly interested in.

Alice brings a wealth of experience as a sports nutritionist. Through her role with Sport Wales she has worked with individuals and teams in endurance based sports at Commonwealth and Olympic level, as well as working with a professional cycling team Alongside helping others to achieve their sporting goals she is an England international in own right and was runner up at the British Championships over 3k steeplechase in 2023. As a runner she knows first hand the challenges of balancing running with a busy working life and the role that nutrition plays in optimising running outcomes and recovery. Alice brings a practical and compassionate approach to her practice as a nutritionist.
