Join acclaimed artist, picture book illustrator and published author Tai Snaith for an immersive masterclass exploring the art of character creation through her distinctive watercolour and papercut technique.Tai will guide you through her creative process step by step, from initial sketching through to painting, cutting, and layering to build a fully realised character. Develop your own picture book character from the ground up, whether human (perhaps even drawing from yourself), animal, or entirely imagined. Participants will also construct a thoughtfully layered setting, considering mood, place, scale, and storytelling details to create a richly imagined visual world.
This masterclass offers artists the opportunity to deepen their understanding of narrative illustration, experiment with combining analogue techniques, and refine a personal, storytelling-led approach to image making. You’ll leave with a unique original artwork, new technical skills, and insight into professional picture book practice.
Ideal for illustrators, visual artists, and creative practitioners looking to expand mixed‑media techniques.
