Lecture Title:

Leave No Stone Unturned: Case-Based Management of Canine and Feline Bladder Stones

Program Description:

This case-based continuing education course will review the diagnosis and management of bladder stones (urolithiasis, cystolithiasis) in dogs and cats, with a focus on practical clinical decision-making for general practitioners. Participants will work through real clinical cases illustrating evidence-based treatment options including dietary dissolution, voiding urohydropulsion, cystoscopic basket retrieval, laser lithotripsy, and percutaneous cystolithotomy (PCCL), guided by current ACVIM consensus guidelines. The lecture will emphasize how to select appropriate candidates for medical versus procedural management, interpret diagnostic imaging and urinalysis findings, and determine when referral is indicated. Attendees will also learn how stone composition, patient signalment, clinical presentation, and comorbidities influence treatment planning and prognosis. This session is designed to provide clinicians with practical, case-based strategies they can immediately apply in practice to improve outcomes for dogs and cats with bladder stones.
