Join Museum staff as we head up Mount Royal to the old Masontown mining site! This is a great hike for visitors and locals alike who want to learn more about Frisco’s mining history, the natural environment, and the story of Masontown. The route is just over 2.5 miles round-trip with plenty of water breaks and scenic views.
The Masontown Hike starts at 9:00am in front of the Schoolhouse Museum. Staff will share the history of Frisco and the natural environment alongside the legends of Masontown. The guided hike ends at the Masontown site, allowing participants to return to Frisco with Museum staff, or continue their adventure to the top of Mount Royal, or head over to Rainbow Lake on their own. The U.S. Forest Service rates the Mount Royal Trail a moderate hike. From the trailhead, the trail climbs 500 feet in elevation to the Masontown site in just under a mile.
Advance registration is required. Registration closes at 5:00pm the day before the hike.
